Do You Know What Spiritual Gifts God Has Blessed You With ?

According to the Scriptures, 1 Peter 4: 10 :

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Jesus has given each one of Christ’s disciple spiritual gifts, so that we would be better able to serve others. As a faithful steward, do you know what your spiritual gift is? Knowing your spiritual gift will help you follow God’s purpose for your life more effectively and help you to serve other with the special blessing that God as specifically chosen for you.

There are various different gifts – teaching, wisdom, service, missions and many others.  (Please see below) They all have different functions to minister to the church as well as to those in the world.

Spiritual gifts are exactly that, gifts. They are not spiritual rights. They are gifts that God gives to us and for us to be stewards of. We ought to manage them and grow them in us.

Last, they are meant for edification. They are given so that we can bless others. If we don’t use them, then the Body suffers. If we hoard our gifts, then we don’t acknowledge the giver of those gifts. We don’t need to compare or envy others with different gifts because God gives them, accord to what we can handle and use properly for His glory.

Here are Spiritual gifts that God gives are outlined in the following verses:

Romans 12:6-8
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;  if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[ do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”

1 Corinthians 12:8-10
“To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.”

Ephesians 4:11
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”

Wisdom is the gift of understanding of God’s will and work as it relates to living


Knowledge is the gift of understanding the truths of God’s Word and applying them to daily life


Faith is the gift of having and displaying extraordinary confidence in God’s promises, power, and presence


Discernment is the gift of knowing truth from error and knowing if a behavior is from God or from Satan


Helps is the gift of bearing another’s burden and helping him to do his task effectively


Administration is the gift of helping the Church to stay on course and achieve its goals.
